The Dreike Scholarship Fund started sponsoring Jackson Phiri through school in Mfuwe, Zambia in 2009. Jackson had recently lost his mother, and his father struggled to look after him, his younger brothers and four older sisters, but Jackson was eager to continue his schooling. A confident and intelligent boy; eager to learn, good at History, English and Maths and a big football fan, he completed his schooling in 2015.
Jackson also had a passion for wildlife and was given the opportunity to work for The Bushcamp Company, in the neighbouring South Luangwa National Park, as a wildlife spotter and later went on to qualify as a safari guide. DSF was very excited to learn that he was accepted to study for a BSc in Wildlife Conservation and Natural Resources Management at the Livingstone International University in Lusaka. He started his four year course in 2021; DSF is extremely proud to be able to sponsor his studies – seeing the successes of investing in individuals and their education and watching young African’s fulfil their potential and realise their dreams is what DSF is all about.
